Kestrels

An after school youth group for ages 8-11.

‘Kestrels’ is a youth project for children (aged 8 – 11) and is part of Camp Mohawk’s Short Breaks Programme which is aimed at children and young people with HFA (High Functioning Autism) and AS(Aspergers Syndrome).

Kestrels youth group meets every other Tuesday between 4:30pm – 6:30pm during term time and uses Camp Mohawk as its primary venue, as well as taking a trip out to another activity centre at the end of each term. The group participates in a variety of activities including archery, cookery, games nights and swimming (during the summer months) at Camp Mohawk.

The friendly and supportive staff are there to encourage members to have fun and make friends, and the experiences offered are aimed at boosting confidence and self-esteem.

When existing Kestrels members reach the age of 12 and it is felt that they will benefit from it, they are offered the opportunity to move up to the next age group called Kites.

There is a voluntary fee of £30 per term (we may occasionally ask for an additional voluntary donation for some external activities).

There is currently a waiting list in operation for places on the Kestrels youth group. For more information and to arrange a visit to talk about joining Kestrels please contact donna.levy@campmohawk.org.uk for details.
